SkyHawk Basketball Coaches

Head Coach – Kyle Jurgens

Coach Jurgens is entering his 7th year as Head Coach at Skutt Catholic. He's compiled an overall record of 127-35 and led the SkyHawks to a state championship in 2013-2014 and a runner up finish in 2017-2018. Jurgens teaches Math at SC and was an Assistant Football Coach in his first 5 years at the school. He started his coaching career at Millard North High School where he was the Varsity Assistant for the Basketball, Football, and Soccer teams.

Jurgens graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan where he played Soccer and earned a degree in Mathematics. He attended North Platte High School and was an all conference football, basketball, and soccer player during his time at North Platte.

Coach Jurgens is supported by his wife Stephanie and daughters Jessa and Taelyn.

Varsity Assistant – Dave Eckley

Coach Eckley is entering his 7th year as a Varsity Assistant at Skutt Catholic. He joined the staff after spending 16 years as a Varsity Assistant at Omaha Bryan. Coach Eckley helped guide the Bears to the state basketball tournament 7 of the last 9 years he was there. He also and helped coach the Class A state runner up in 2011. Coach has been involved in 2 Metro Conference Championship teams and brings experience in working with all aspects of the game of basketball.

Coach played basketball and baseball at Archbishop Ryan High School

Coach Eckley has been married to his wife Terri for 43 years and together they have 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

Varsity Assistant - Pete Walls

Coach Walls is entering his 6th year as an Assistant Coach for the SkyHawks. He spent 7 years as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Burlington High School in Burlington, MA and Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, MA under head coach Nick Papas who is a member of the 500 win club in Massachusetts. Coach Walls graduated from Tufts University in 2004 where he played baseball and football. He attended Plymouth South High School in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 2000 where he was a 4 year starter in baseball and a 3 year starter in basketball and football.  

Coach Walls is supported by his wife Meaghan, a 2000 Skutt graduate, and daughters Avery and Kensley.

Varsity Assistant - Will Pope

Coach Pope is entering his 3rd year as a Social Studies Teacher and Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Skutt Catholic. Prior to Skutt Catholic, he spent 1 year at Mount Michael HS and 2 years at Sidney HS. Before joining the high school ranks, Coach Pope was the assistant coach for the Men’s Basketball program at NCAA Division 2 Chadron State College.

Coach Pope graduated from Doane College in 2011 where he was a member of the Men’s Basketball team. A 2007 graduate of Chadron High School in Chadron, NE, he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track.

JV Coach/Varsity Assistant – Jason Schlautman

Coach Schlauatman is entering his 8th year coaching boys basketball at Skutt Catholic. In college, Coach Schlautman played football for the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Coach graduated from Columbus High School in 2007 where he was a 3-year starter in basketball for the Discoverers.

Coach Schlautman graduated from UNO in 2012 and is currently teaching physical education at Reeder Elementary School. Coach Sclautman is supported by his wife Shelby, who is an Assistant Girls Soccer Coach at Skutt Catholic, and their 2 children, Tyson and Sloan.

Reserve Coach – Jeff Wees

Coach Wees is a graduate of Skutt Catholic High School class of 2006. While there, he participated in football and track as well as being a student manager for the basketball team for two years. Coach is presently pursuing a degree at UNO.

Coach Wees comes to Skutt after spending a year as a assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Central Community college which was competing at the varsity level for the first time in 20 years.

Freshmen A Coach - Jermaine Foster

Coach Foster is entering his 2nd year as an assistant coach at Skutt Catholic high school. He joined the staff after spending 8 years as an assistant for Chip Bahe and Tim Cannon at Millard North High School. Coach graduated from Millard North High School in 2005 where he played Varsity Football, Basketball, and ran track. 

Coach Foster is currently an educational assistant at Westside High School and is working towards his degree in Education.

Freshmen B Coach - LJ McIntosh

Coach McIntosh is entering his 2nd year as an assistant coach at Skutt Catholic high school. Coach McIntosh graduated from Lindenwood University in 2017 where he was a member of the Men’s Basketball team. A 2013 graduate of Marist High School in Chicago, IL, where he was a 4-year starter and is the school's all-time leading scorer.

Coach McIntosh is currently an Account Executive at Flywheel in downtown Omaha. Coach McIntosh is supported by his wife Rachel, a 2011 Skutt graduate, and daughter Braelynn.
